The Beach
Is there anything better than waking up to this view?
No! And that is why we do the crazy things that we do. We flew to Destin for the weekend. #1 to surprise my brother on his Walk to Emmaus and #2 to enjoy our only chance this summer to put our toes in the sand. We left Houston on Friday afternoon.
Had a crazy crazy delay. Had a screaming (Eli) child for over an hour on a tiny hot plane that didn't get in to almost midnight. Relaxing start to vacation.. um. No. But we survived and arrived at VPS around 11pm at night and there was Poppy!
Even though we got in really late Friday night, the boys were ready to go bright and early Saturday morning. We hit the beach.
We were just a quick walk from The Back Porch for lunch.
After lunch .. naps for all! We headed to Blue Lake and the Riley grandparents and Aunt Lauren took over. The boys had a great time at Harry T's watching boats, dancing to bands, and loving time with their grandparents. We had an awesome trip to Danny's (fried mushrooms) and the most amazing experience at Blue Lake for JB's Emmaus. Sunday morning we snuck out early (I am talking 7am ish) to get in as much water time as we could.
Now it would be so nice if I could say that the boys LOVED the beach but they did not. Look at those hands trying not to touch the sand! Eli kept saying "dirty dirty" and they did ok in the water but they did not love the waves. It was just ok. Now what they did LOVE was the pool!

The condo had the best pool set up with a little small baby pool then a great big pool with water falls. The boys enjoyed both of them so much. And a great little playground too! My little monkey was so tired.
It was over way too fast and we were back on the way to the airport. The beach made a big impression on my little ones. They talk still now about waves, ocean, sand, beach, and of course Poppy. If only for a weekend, there is just something about the air, the waves, and that sweet sweet time that makes special memories.
