Memorial Day Cupcakes & Friends

I love holidays!  Especially holidays that give us a day off from work to spend together as a family.  What a blessing to live in a nation where we can go to church on Sunday and we can honor those who gave their lives for our freedoms.. by enjoying these freedoms!

Justin visited his cousins in Arkansas while there for work last week and she made (thanks Shannon) what he described as the most amazing cupcake he has ever put in his mouth.  He was DYING for me to try.  So after getting the recipe he spent 3 hours baking this masterpiece creations Memorial Day Monday.  Let me just try and give you an idea of how sinful these cupcakes are.  Cupcake with an entire oreo in the bottom, filled with marshmallow creme, and top with cookies and cream homemade icing.  Yummo!! The recipe can be found here on Confessions of A Cookbook Queen.

Yep... my man did the piping.. can you believe it?

Topped with homemade from scratch cookies and cream icing!

We made these delights to take to a special Memorial Day afternoon at the Galloway's.  It is always a blessing to spend time with them and their sweet twin boys.  Can you believe how big they are?  Just to think that a year ago they were just getting home from the NICU and were the tiniest little things I had ever seen.  God is SO GOOD!  Our boys loved playing in the pool, my big boy played washers with the men, and it was a great afternoon.
