A Sunday in San Antonio
By Sunday morning, the antibiotics were working and Eli was back to his fun filled, life loving little self. We went to San Antonio for the day to see the sights and have lunch with our great friends the Cullens from Austin. They happened to be in town for their anniversary so it worked out perfect. And speaking of perfect. The 11:30 brunch weather on the Riverwalk was PERFECT. It was a gorgeous day and we sat right by the water and to the boys wonderful delight, right by the ducks! What a great place to take in all the sights, including a man with 3 birds on him! He put a chip in Poppy's mouth and the bird ate it out. I just wish you could have seen the expression on Eli's face. Priceless.
After lunch we hit up the boat tour of San Antonio which is a must do for all first time visitors (the Roberts). Beckett and Eli enjoyed the boat tour and did great even though we were all packed in like sardines :-) And it was HOT again.
After parting ways with our friends, the Roberts did the classic Alamo photo. Justin and I stayed outside with Emmie while they toured the Alamo for the first time. We wondered after watching family after family, couple after couple, take their photos... how many millions of people have taken their picture in front of the Alamo? Maybe even Billions through the years. Anyway.. the Alamo knocked the boys right out. Although it was a quick day in San Antonio we hit all the highlights and really enjoyed the Riverwalk.
As we headed back to Houston, angels were with us. Justin and I were literally forced off the road by a car that swerved to miss other cars that had to stopped because of a wreck. One minute we were flying down the interstate, the next minute were in the median, I was screaming and praying that we didn't flip. Justin stayed so calm and handled it so well. If he had jerked the wheel or made one wrong move I swear we would have been upside down. The only thing I kept screaming was "where are my babies!!" They were in the car with my parents who were behind us and I had no idea if they made it through. It was a scary scary thing. I cried on and off afterwards thinking about it. It happens that quick. That quick your life changes. So grateful that everyone was okay that in our car caravan and that angels were watching over us on our way home that day. Hug your loved ones tight, tell them how much you love them each and every day. LOVE and ENJOY every moment with them to the fullest.
