Christmas Day at The Riley House
After a sweet Christmas Eve and late evening, we were ready to see if Santa visited us. Beckett woke up at 6:00 and his brother was right behind him at 6:30. Justin kept them both in the bedroom watching cartoons while I got the milk and camera's ready.
After a quick milk drink, we were ready! I made both of the boys sit in the hallway with me so we could video them coming into the living room and seeing their Christmas. They were thrilled :-)
Here we go. Funny funny story. Here is the video that we took first. We are off to the races, here comes Beckett .. but where is Eli? Around the corner pooping. Yep. That is a poop face. And then who else pooped? Mr. Beckett. Pause for 2 diaper changes.
Then we are off again!
Santa brought them a Little Tikes 3 sports game, the cutest little Disney characters, and their Smart Trikes!
We had such a great morning playing with our toys, opening presents, and being silly. Breakfast was our favorite Paula Deen spinach bacon quiche with a side of cheese grits. Milk for the babes.. Dad's special Chai Tea for the parents. Here they are eating in their new slippers we gave them for Christmas.. SO CUTE!
It was really really cold. But we were going stir crazy inside. We rode the trikes all around the house and finally we (I) said, "let's do it!" We bundled up in our jackets and hoods and headed for a quick stroll. The wind was freezing! We stayed out about 10 minutes but the trikes were a hit! Fortunately it warmed up enough on Sunday and the sun came out to get a good ride. We passed several kids on our walk.. I think they really like our bikes :-)
Christmas with your own kids.. it just brings back the magic and wonder of Christmas. After all these years there is still such anticipation and joy of seeing the surprises. The boys are still too young to truly understand but it was still so much fun. It was a wonderful special day.
Before it was over, we cleaned the boys up.. put them in their warm fuzzy pajamas and drove to a "famous" neighborhood near us for Christmas lights. I sat in the back between my sweet boys, listening to Christmas songs on the radio, and looking at the lights from the back seat. They clapped at many of the displays and smiled so sweet. It was such a special feeling. My little family on Christmas, all together and creating our own traditions and memories. I pray for many many more to come!
