My First Mother's Day Weekend

Not only was it my first Mother's Day Weekend but I actually had Saturday off of work which was the first in a while.  We made plans to go to Kemah Boardwalk and I was excited all week.  Kemah is located on Galveston Bay and it was an area that we haven't explored yet.  It was also exciting because it was really the first time that we got to take the boys out for a "normal" weekend.  It seems like we stayed home with them so much while they were small then we have done a few things with our family, traveled home but we haven't had much time to just explore the Houston area on a "normal weekend" as a "normal family".

We have become pros at getting us packed and loaded up.  The right number of bottles, diapers, burp clothes, changes of clothes, wipes, sippy cups, strollers, lovies, toys, oh wait.. did we forget something?  The weather was great.  I know it sounds weird to say this but it was overcast (a blessing after a few days of 90+ super sunny heat).  It was a little windy, 80 degrees and perfect!  We arrived at Kemah and scored a parking place.  We loaded the boys in the stroller and looked around a few shops, water, and light houses.

The Kemah Boardwalk is owned by the Landry family of all the Landry restaurants.  They are from Galveston and revitalized the area.  It took a hard hit from Ike but the actual Boardwalk has been rebuilt.  There are amusement park rides, games, etc.  There is one of those fountains with the water sqirting out of the ground (Justin begged me to run the stroller through it.. no :-)

We found the perfect spot to eat.  It was on the water, next to live band, right by the playground (for our friend's kids) and served seafood and cold drinks.  Perfection!  We camped out with the boys just in time for the high school boat parade!  Our friends met up with us and we enjoyed ceviche, oysters, shrimp, and calamari while listening to the band.  The boys had a great time.

One of the best memories of the day was playing the games.  Justin won the boys their first "fair prize"  It won't be long until I have a feeling he will need to win 2!  The boys got a scooby doo their dad won them :-)

Mother's Day was a very special day for me.  We woke up to go to church and I jumped in the shower.  I heard Beckett start to wake up on the monitor and Justin went to get him.  When I got out of the shower, Justin asked me to come in there and look at something.  When I walked in the bedroom, my sweet Beckett was holding a small box and Eli was holding a card.  So sweet.. my eyes filled up with tears.  I was so excited about my present!  A total surprise.. Their birth stone is opal which is always pink but Justin was able to find Australian opal which is a gorgeous turquoise blue and the earrings are beautiful.  I haven't taken them off yet :-)

We went to church and had a relaxing afternoon at home.  I even caught a Mother's Day nap.  What  a blessing it is to be a mother to these 2 little angels.  I am so glad God chose me!
