Happy Mother's Day 2011

My second Mother's Day weekend as a mom started off really really early.  4:50am to be exact.  Due to some teething issues, Eli was up at 4:30 on Saturday morning.. I worked so hard to get him back to sleep and by 4:50 I threw in the towel.  Weebils it is.. I love to play at 5am.. doesn't every mom?  Besides, who can resists this face??

By the time Beckett got up at 7am, I had showered, played, done laundry, read books. Justin wasn't due home until lunch on Saturday so the boys took me out for breakfast at Chik-Fil-A.  They even let me play on the indoor playground and we had a blast!

When daddy got home at lunch, I headed to the spa to use a gift certificate I received for Valentine's Day.  What a treat!  Wow.. mommy was pampered with a massage, facial, and pedicure followed by a little shopping.  A fantastic afternoon for sure.

Sunday morning, my sweet Eli and Beckett went in to the bathroom with daddy and walked out with a tiny little white box.  They were so excited to watch me open it.  Eli made his sweet surprise faces while I opened it.  I love the necklace!  It has a B coin and an E coin for my sweet boys and a little ruby stone in honor of their baby sister.  I will treasure it and wear it always.  Makes my eyes water to look it.  Such a sweet gift and something I have wanted for a long time.

The super special treat for Mother's Day was brunch at the Omni hotel.  The Omni was gorgeous.. the most beautiful infinity pool.  A piano player, flowers, champagne, sweet company.  Look at the spread!  We ate for an hour and 1/2.  The boys were so good.  I can't believe how much they ate and how long they sat there.  We got lots of attention.  Beckett's favorite? The berries!  I think he ate 3 lbs of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries.  Eli thought the cheese, crackers, apple strudel, and french fries were great.  Me & Dad.. we loved and tried everything! Breakfast, crepes, caviar, sushi, crab legs, ceviche, cheese, olives, capriccio, salads, lamb, prime rib, and of course.. dessert!  One of everything please :-)

The best treat? The boys fell asleep in the car and we successfully snuck them sleepy into their beds for a 2 hours nap!  Yes! Mom & Dad both got a huge Mother's Day after brunch nap.  We woke up feeling amazing.  All 4 of us headed over to the neighbors for an afternoon at their pool.  I wish I had picks.  The boys were hilarious playing with their "girlfriends" they neighbors twin girls.  I am sure you will see a lot of their antics this summer.

I had several moments throughout the weekend I just thanked God for all the love He has given me in my life.  My heart ached for my sweet babies I have yet to meet and for those that I know struggle with Mother's Day.  I said a special prayer for them because I personally know the pain that Mother's Day can bring.  I am so grateful for being honored and pampered by the special boys in my life. We are blessed to have amazing women in their lives.  Beautiful and loving great grandma's and grandmother's who model such love to us.

Disney Jr has a poem each morning read by a celebrity but also put with scenes from Disney classics.  A Mother's Poem is one of my favorites and bright and early Saturday morning it came on.  I cuddled the boys close and we watched.  I love that is has a scene from 2 of my favorites.. Lady & The Tramp and Bambi.  Eli and Beckett say "baby" when we watch it.  It's very sweet and of course made me cry.

Mother's Song
a Traditional Lullaby
(read by Jennifer Garner)

My heart is like a fountain true
That flows and flows with love to you.
As chirps the lark unto the tree
...So chirps my pretty babe to me.

There's not a rose where'er I seek,
As comely as my baby's cheek.
There's not a comb of honey-bee,
So full of sweets as babe to me.

There's not a star that shines on high,
Is brighter than my baby's eye.
There's not a boat upon the sea,
Can dance as baby does to me.

No silk was ever spun so fine
As is the hair of baby mine.
My baby smells more sweet to me
Than smells in spring the elder tree.

A little fish swims in the well,
So in my heart does baby dwell.
A little flower blows on the tree,
My baby is the flower to me.

The Queen has sceptre, crown and ball,
You are my sceptre, crown and all.
For all her robes of royal silk,
More fair your skin, as white as milk.

Ten thousand parks where deer do run,
Ten thousand roses in the sun,
Ten thousand pearls beneath the sea,
My babe more precious is to me.

Love,
