The Rodeo is Here!
Once again the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo has rolled into town. It kicked off again with the BBQ Championship cookoff that we went to the last couple of years. This time Justin, his man friends, and clients enjoyed 2 nights of CRAZINESS and I stayed home and tended the children .. like good little western women do.. right? :-)
This year is the first year that we actually went to the rodeo part. Each night of rodeo also has a concert headliner. We got to see one of my favorites.. Sugar Land! (AMAZING.. Jennifer Nettles is adorable and sounds even better in person) We almost didn't get to go because the little E man got the daycare called on him for fever.. but once assessed, I felt confident it was his ear so our sweet neighbors came over and loved on them for us. No pics. Camera battery was dead. Boo.
We also saw bull riding, calf roping, barrel racing, and our favorite.. Mutton bustin. You have to see 5 year old kids riding sheep! I swear.. they are precious.
The rodeo has arrived at the Riley house too. Eli played hooky with Daddy Thursday afternoon after the daycare called and they visited our local Cavender's to exchange some rodeo gear Justin had purchased the weekend before. My Eli man did some shopping for his self. I hear he was quite a hit with all the ladies in the shop. He came home with the cutest pearl snap shirt you have ever seen (in a size 5 so I promise you will see lots of it over the next few years) and a pair of "ostrich" skin boots that look just like his dads. My sweet baby is IN LOVE with his boots. He cries when they come off. He sees them laying on the floor and tries to put them on. I think he would sleep in them if we let him. He loves to stomp in them.. I don't know if its the feel or the sound of walking in them that he loves.
Beckett had a great time playing with the hat but we cannot keep the boots on Beckett's feet at all. Don't you love these sweet faces?
Now that he has his hat and boots, Eli is ready to tackle the brisket :-)
And of course... every good Texas cowboy needs to ride his longhorn! Happy Texan Day!
Yee Haw!! Love,
The Rileys
