A Holiday Dinner Party
Our favorites from Austin The Cullen's made our holidays by staying with us Thursday night before flying out to Florida for their holiday. Of course, this called for a dinner gathering. Our neighbors, who also have twins (girls, age 5) came to liven up the party too.
I had the day off work for preparation.. which to me is so much part of the fun. And of course.. I had the best help!
Now I am one that loves an excuse to try out new recipes so I gave these Potato Gratin with Rosemary Crust featured in Southern Living's December holiday issue a try. They are made my layering rosemary between 2 pie crust in a springform pan. It layers both yukon gold potatoes with sweet potatos.. the best of both worlds. They turned out super super yummy!
Justin's prime rib was a hit (as always) and I tried out both the whipped horseradish (light, airy and amazing) as well as ceasar salad boats. The best new way to serve salad. Individual romaine hearts topped with grape tomatoes, croutons, parmesan cheese.. so easy and great because they aren't large. Just enough salad.
This was an amazing way to kick off our holiday weekend. The boys loved playing with their "girlfriends".. we were so blessed to get to know our neighbors better and catch up with Cullen clan.
Um.. I am still full today :-)
Love,
