Kicking It Off With Red Bar & Funky Blues Shack
On Saturday, we kicked off our vacation with dinner at The Red Bar in Grayton Beach. By "we" I mean Me, Justin, the boys, Aunt Lauren & Uncle Preston, Mom, Dad, Gracie, her babysitter, baby "Mookie", Ma, Dave, their friend Phyllis, Ruth & Hal. Total and complete zoo getting us all ready and out the door in 4 seperate cars! With kids, the good thing is that you always eat early and The Red Bar is mostly a late night place so we got a table outside that we could all cram in and sit together. Now, if you have never been to The Red Bar.. add it to your bucket list. The food is fantastic! On weekends only, they have the BEST CRABCAKES south of Maine. They also have a seafood stuffed eggplant that is too die for. The atmosphere is amazing and they always have live music. It was a gorgeous evening and we had a blast.
Of course we topped it all off with a homemade apple dumpling with ice cream.. Eli approved!
After getting all the babes in bed a group of us headed out to hear my brother JB play at Funky Blues Shack in Baytown Wharf Sandestin. The highlight of the evening was the cab ride. We called so many companies before we found someone that would pick us up out on 30a, not that we didn't have ourselves a little party while waiting on a ride. So by the time "Fun-Pa" as his grandkids call him arrived in our chariot, we were ready for a good time. He had a tambourine (my instrument of choice) and most importantly a cowbell, and an ipad full of song choices. We jammed and rocked our instruments and sang at the top of our lungs all the way there. At one point I realized that we were driving in our neighborhood in circles.. The cab driver says "The cowbell was drowning out the GPS". Now that is something that you don't hear to often. We had a great time listening to JB. His band was incredible as always. I am constantly amazed with his talent and how much he enjoys what he does.
We saw TONS of people from Troy and south Alabama that we had seen in years. What a great start to the vacation!
