Happy 5th Anniversary
On December 17th, I celebrated 5 years with the love of my life! I cannot believe how quickly this milestone came. What an adventure the last 5 years have been. We have lived in Madison, Panama City, Troy, Birmingham, and now Houston. We have had 5 houses, 2 rentals, and started and sold a business. And now we have 2 amazing sons. What a roller coaster it has been but what memories we have.
To celebrate we headed to Austin for a night out. Justin's parents and sister and her husband were in town so the boys were in good hands. I was really nervous about leaving the boys overnight for the first time. I said several times that I didn't think I could do it. But when the time came, I left them... and I did really good. I only called twice. Once that night and then again in the morning. We got to Austin about 2:00 and we went to the lake to grab a snack. The day was gorgeous! It was in the upper 60's and the sun was shining. We went to Abel on the lake, sat outside and had great time. Then back to the hotel for a nap (which could be one of the highlights after all these sleepless nights!) We had dinner at a sushi restaurant, Kenichi, that our friends from Austin recommended. Amazing rolls and super fresh fish. I had a Japenese bagel - a twist on the bagel and lox. Smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese, topped with fresh strawberries and honey miso.. yummy. We went to a martini bar afterwards and had a great night.
When we got back to the hotel, we discovered something very unfortunate. Justin has severe sleep apnea and uses a breathing machine. Without the machine, it is impossible to sleep in a room (or house) with him. Mom and I stayed in the guest room to take care of the babies and with our door shut, and the master bedroom door shut, we could still hear Justin snore down the hallway! This happened a few years ago on an anniversary trip and I spent the night
on a pallet in the bathroom floor, so guess whose turn it was for the bathroom??? We took the couch pillows off and made him a really comfy? bed in the bathtub with pillows and blankets and he turned the fan on. I barely heard him. That is true love! He told me locked the door because he was scared I would come in and turn the water on! I actually never thought of it, I just felt bad for him.
We had brunch the next morning and headed back to Houston. I couldn't wait to get back and see my little men. I was thinking about their sweet hugs and kisses the whole time I was gone. They had a great time with their Riley family and very well taken care of. I definitely missed them more than they missed me! I am blessed to have such a wonderful husband and to have a second family that loves us. God has really worked miracles in our marriage and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us for many many more years together.
