Christmas Eve with Ma

We were blessed this year to have my Ma, Dave, Max (their furry baby) and their sweet friend Phyllis arrive for Christmas. They got in late Wednesday night after a full day of driving from Dozier, Alabama. We ate dinner, they saw the boys for the night and then they headed off to the hotel. During the day that day Justin told me that he wasn't really feeling great. He started taking some OTC cold medicine and was feeling better. After the left that night, he took is temperature and was running a low grade fever. We both decided he needed to stay away from the boys so I took care of them myself that night. The next morning I went to see how he was (and get some help) and he felt bad. Sore throat, sinus, etc. Off to the doctor he went. I was so glad that Ma & friends were here to help me on Christmas Eve. Justin came back with a diagnosis: virus. He started medication and we put him back in bed to stay for the day. He was a terrible patient. He kept coming out and wanting to socialize. We kept running him out of the kitchen. The boys got lots of loving that day. Ma & Phyllis had a big adventure to the HEB (which is the best grocery store ever) and brought back tons of goodies. We enjoyed egg nog, all kinds of cheese and crackers, stuffed jalapenos, barbeque sandwiches with vegetable chips, Texas caviar and so many more goodies they sampled and got "free" with their Cajun turkey. Phyllis brought the boys cute little gifts. Hooded towels, burp clothes, and a brag book for their pictures.

We usually attend Christmas Eve service at church but this year we stayed home due to Justin's virus and the fact that it was incredibly windy. All of our decorations blew over in the storms and potted plants. We decided just to keep the boys at home. Instead, we read the Christmas story from the Matthew and Luke out of "The Message" a version I hadn't read before. After the last feeding of the night, we put the boys in bed in their reindeer pajamas and the family headed back to the hotel. After Justin went to bed, I stayed up and just had some wonderful quiet time reflecting on the season and my blessings. I read a great devotional!http://www.devotions.co.uk/christmas.shtml I hope to share with my boys in the future.
I was up for the 2am feeding when I got a text from my Mom. She was up finishing her cinnamon rolls for her infamous Roberts brunch and she still had to finish her presents. Wish she was here she could have fed babies too! When I got up for the 6 am feeding I saw that Santa had come when I was sleeping. I guess I was so tired from being up that I didn't hear him sneak in and out :-)
