The Riley Babies Nursery - A Labor of Love

This weekend, Justin and I finished the last items in the nursery. We are thrilled with how it turned out. For the last several years, we have spent a week in Cape San Blas. It holds a special place in our heart. On our many walks on the beach discussing our future, we talked about how we would have a nautical beach nursery if we were blessed with children. I think now of how discouraged I was last time I was there because we had been unable to get pregnant and we were discussing options for the future. Wow! What a difference a year makes.
Of course once it was all done, I cried thinking of how blessed we are to have these special boys on the way. I had a moment for the sweet little girl who would have been in there too. Hard to believe that we started we three. She has a special nautical memory box with her special gifts that people gave me, her cards, some of her flowers, and pictures. She has a special place and will be watching over her little brothers.

The nursery is even more special through all the help and love poured into it by our friends and family. I previously posted about the wall color... Big Poppa certainly loves us! My mother in law made the curtains. My mom and dad did the rods and knots. Big Poppa made the swing shelves above the window and collected lots of the nautical items on the shelves. My mom spent hours with me in Babies R Us getting sheets and items needed. My Ma gave us the very special (and super comfy) glider rocker. Our neighbor made the crib skirts as a gift to us. The dressers are mine from childhood. They are 25 years old and I used them as my furniture until I got married. They have been in our guest room. Justin and his dad repainted them to freshen them up and we got the cutest knobs on Ebay for them. Dave put the knobs on for us when he came to visit. We just love it and I know the boys will love it as much as we do as they grow up in there. I can just hear them saying "Boat" :-)
