It's a boy! And a girl! And a ??? 15 weeks update
This past Thursday we had our much anticipated 15 week gender scan.
With triplets they do these earlier because by the normal time of 18-20 weeks the body parts are all tangled up and it can be even more difficult to tell. Our appt was early at 8:00am so we got up early and had a little prayer time and headed to the Woodlands. We had breakfast on Market street and had some time together. Justin had been out of town in Denver and just got in on Wednesday night. So it was nice to reconnect before our appointment. Our doctor has moved to a new office and it is so nice.

We were taken back almost immediately by LeAnn our sonogram technician. She said she was excited because they have twins all the time but rarely does she get toscan triplets. She had to do some work to get the squiggly little ones scanned well. Baby A was the most cooperate. HE'S A BOY!!! Confirmed Sleeping soundly in a great position to see. Heart rate was 154. Measured great
and looked healthy as can be so far. Baby B - not cooperating all. Baby B was so low on me. The only thing we could see was 2 feet with a cord and hand between them (they think its a boy but not sure). Nurse and Justin made lots of jokes about that one. We pushed and pushed but couldn't get the little one to turn. So no measurement or heartbeat and no gender confirm. Baby C - I was totally shocked by this one. This baby has always been the jumping bean on every ultrasound from the beginning. We just knew it was a wild man like Justin. But SHE IS A GIRL!!! Her heart rate was 153 so almost the same as the boy. She measured great as well so far. We kept revisiting B but no go.
After the scan, we saw the doctor. Gave lots of blood :-( and she did a very thorough check on how things are progressing. She was very pleased with the physical exam. Total weight can so far is 14 lbs. But, I am still 10 lbs behind. I should have hit 25 by now. Trust me, I am trying. I am literally eating or drinking a Boost or Smoothie (with extra protein) all day long. I am doing good tracking my calories. Somedays I hit around 3,000. Very rare to get to 4,000 but I try. Every 90 minutes, I either eat or drink a Boost. So now cravings. I am so full, I never have the chance to crave anything! Blood pressure was good. The next appt is a big one. It will be with a fetal maternal medicine specialist, Dr. Chapman. This is an anatomy scan, they will do the detailed scan of development. 3 weeks from now. Then the next week, I meet my doctor again to review the results of the scan and start evaluating for bed rest. She said that I have done so good so far that she thinks 25 weeks is realistic for me. So only 10 weeks from now! I am determined to hold on to these babies to the 30's (weeks) so whatever it takes. The factors are cervix (we will start measuring and checking next time), blood pressure, fluid levels, contractions, etc. In the meantime, I am getting as much picked out and ready as I can.
There are 2 pregnant women that work with me. One is 21 weeks, and one is 25 weeks. I am so much bigger than the 21 weeks, and I think in a week or so the way I am growing I will be bigger than the 25 week. I got a prenatal massage last night (thanks Leah and McCalle) and the girl who gave it to me is 18 weeks. Ha! She has no belly compared to mine. When we got done and walked out, she was asked if she could show my belly to her spa girls that worked there. Sure! Not a time to start being modest now :-)
Continue to keep us in your prayers! Love, Luann & Justin + 3
