Continuing our Wine Tour - Sunday

We continued on the wine tour Sunday morning. Grabbed some breakfast and headed to Fredericksburg, Tx. Fredericksburg Texas is about 3 hours or so west of Houston. It is a former German colony founded in the 1800's in Texas. The town has a main street full of shops, German pubs and bakeries, museums, and is mainly a tourist attraction. On the way, we stopped at Wild Seed Farms on the recommendation of our Texas friends. Wild Seed Farms is the largest working wild seed farm in the United States. What a neat place! Tons of pottery, and gifts, and foods.. and not to mention seeds.. I have to go back in the summer to see everything in bloom. You could spend hours there looking around. (or sitting on cactus.. ha!)

From there we grabbed a quick lunch and hit the wine tour. First stop, the big winery known as Becker Vineyards. This was the most perfect afternoon. Huge vineyards, lavender field, wine tasting set up outside, string quartet playing, gourmet chocolate chef, and a bench in the Texas 68 degree sun on a Sunday afternoon (sigh). Perfection!

After enjoying some time in the sun, we had 2 more wineries to visit. The last one being Grapecreek Vineyards. They had this great deal where you pay 5$ for the tasting and get to keep these gorgeous wine glasses. I was so excited about that. And in a tragic story, later knocked mine out of the car and it shattered all over the parking lot. (typical :-) So anyway, that was Justin's :-) We met this awesome wine pourer (Is that what they are called?) He was hilarious! Loved their wines too.

So on to Fredericksburg for some shopping.. such cute boutiques, antiques, gifts. We walked along the streets enjoying the day and sight seeing. Stopped by Hondo's and made the Fredericksburg Brew Pub where we ate German pretzels, sausage, cheese, platter that was delicious! A full day again led to an early night at the hotel.
