The Riley Story 2011
As I started to think about and create this post in my mind, I knew that I wanted to create a slideshow of pictures from this past year. (tried to last year and never got around too it so this year determined). I looked through songs on itunes and read the lyrics of lots of songs that I might could use. I found the perfect one. When I tell you I have listened to this song a thousand times, I am not kidding. The Little Light of Mine by Addison Road. Read the lyrics below:

There's a little light inside us all
Doesn't that just sum up life? In this life you will know love and pain, joy and sorrow. This year has been an up and down and all around roller coaster of all those things. So much love in our lives. Family, friends, amazing memories we made with our little ones, and traveling and experiencing those "first" with them all over again. Pain of loss. Joy of unexpected news. Joy on the faces of my children. Sorrow for the troubles of this world that we must face. I lost a best friend to an unexpected death this year. I hurt for her all the time and miss her like crazy. I hurt for her family. "With the ones you love, treasure the time". I agree with the song. There are days where you want to give up, when the rain clouds set in, but then there are days where the SON in all His glory shines and the clouds move out. So each day this year, each and every day, I have tried to "let my light shine". Loving as hard as I can, as much as I can, going and doing, and praying, and believing each day like it could be the last. Do you know what keeps my light burning? The promises of God. The beauty of my Savior. The angels that watch over me and my boys from Heaven. The joy that God has blessed me with in becoming a mother and a wife. His unending, undeserving incredible Grace that helps me find the sun behind the clouds, that gets me out of bed when life hurts, that guides me strengthens me, and surrounds me with love.
I have watched this slide show first in tears, then in wonder, and then in a spirit of gratitude of all my many blessings. May you count yours this evening too.
