And While The Big Boys Were BBQ'ing

The little boys were having a blast with mom and our friend Mo (whose husband Walt was on the BBQ tour).  We started our day early (of course, who sleeps late on road trips??)  By the time Morgan was up and joining us we had completed our morning stair work out :-)

Our first stop, was Zilker Park and the train.  We got there in perfect timing to walk right up, purchase tickets and hop the train.  So cute that the "conductor" comes down the line and collects the tickets.  With a huge whistle we were off.  A great ride through the park and along the river.  There were so many people out running. Tons of dogs and babies in jogging strollers.  Everyone waved at us which was really cute.  Along the way, a guitar player was singing to the kids on the train.  After a quick loop we headed back to station.

The park was AMAZING!  The best toddler playground hands down I have ever seen.  The boys had a blast.  They had an old firetruck that you could play in.  Brad says he remembers playing on it when he was a kid.  Although there were lots of kids there it never felt overcrowded like most of our parks here.  We played for awhile and then off to lunch.

Lunch was at Freddy's.  Home of famous chicken and waffles.  Really cool outside scene and very easy with kids.  Something about eating outside takes away the pressure of the noise and mess.. and also gives the boys plenty of distractions.  I LOVED my lunch.. but yummers on the little bit of waffle the boys left over.

One last stop at Morgan's church carnival on the way back home.  Snow cones and cotton candy... the perfect sticky end to the afternoon trip out and home back in time for some afternoon naps and a little craziness :-)

Finished off by meeting our favorite boys at The Salt Lick.. read about that trip HERE.  On the way home we took the boys to their first Sunday lunch at Cracker Barrel.  No road trip is complete without it.  Played checkers, toys, ate biscuits, catfish, chicken, vegetables, apples, and so many yummy things.  We get back in the car and Eli is all leaned back moaning and rubbing his tummy.  I had to unbutton his pants!!

We are blessed to have such great friends in Austin and everytime we go we can't wait to come back again!
