A Gorgeous Day at HLSR
We made an impromptu Sunday trip to the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo. We really hadn't planned on going back but Justin started looking at things to do with his parents and its the last week so we thought, why not? We loaded up and headed down to enjoy this gorgeous weather.
First up, winning a prize of course! Our Big Poppa won us this awesome cow. Eli kept saying "ride cow moo" and we would put it in the stroller and he would cuddle it. Beckett kept giving it big kisses.
I think we each had our favorite part but we stared at the Butterfly Garden (my favorite). There were hundreds of butterflies in this "usda containment facility". Eli was a little scared of them. They would land on him, land on Big Poppa, very very cool.
Next up, the pig races. They were really too fast for the boys to see the pigs but really really cute.
The boys seriously through down on some "fair food lunch". Fried catfish, hush puppies, pulled pork, sweet roasted corn, and fresh squeezed lemonade.. (and a little churro) Yummo as Eli would say.
Favorite part #2 - Petting zoo. I am totally shocked that they would just let us run loose with all these animals and how tame these animals were. Funny moment.. the baby deer ate Beckett's shirt.. and then started munching on his pants! Eli was undecided about all the animals. He would run from them and dive for his daddy. Beckett loved it! He wasn't scared at all. A llama? Very very cool.
We met Mrs. Moo - went about like Santa Claus pictures :-)
After we had all the animals the boys could handle, we headed out to the carnival to ride some rides. I did not vote in favor for the big tall slide but it turned out ok. The boys took their first carousel ride. By then, they were just ready for a nap. Mom and Dad squeezed in one terrifying free fall ride and then we headed home.
I don't know how many times we said, "next year next year". They will really be tall enough for most of the rides and able to enjoy even more. Can't wait!!
Love,
