Coming Home
On Wednesday night we were finally able to bring the boys home. One thing that the hospital has you to do if your babies have been in the NICU is pass the "Car Seat Challenge". The babies are fed and then one hour later put in their car seats. The nurse checks that you have them strapped properly and then they are taken to the NICU.
While they are there they are hooked up to monitors for one hour to see how they tolerate the car seat. If they will be okay to ride in it on the way home and how they breathe and react. Eli took his car seat challenge on Sunday night. The nurse came and got him in a red wagon. He is so little mom and I had a hard time putting him in. Beckett passed his car seat challenge on Tuesday night so both boys were ready to go home. We didn't get discharged until late Wednesday night because we
had to wait on Beckett's final test results and also to monitor his circumcision to make sure he handled it okay. We left the hospital at 9:00 and headed home. Never thought it would be so late. After a stop at CVS to pick up my meds we didn't get home until 10:00. We were so tired and the first night was absolute chaos but it was wonderful having the whole family at home under one roof!
We are so blessed to have my mom stay with us for 2 weeks. She relieved Justin in the hospital for 2 nights so he could come home and rest and take care of things at the house. She helped us get home from the hospital and her and Justin braved the first night alone so that I could rest and work on my blood pressure. I have no idea what we would do without her. She has run all errands, got our grocerys, cooked our meals, bought all the things that we have come across that we needed to care for the babies and pretty much let us focus on taking care of the babies. What a blessing!
Ready to go home
